Az audit (a brit modell szerint) egyrészt a mérőeszközöket "hitelesíti", azaz megállapítja, hogy az adott rendszer azt csinálja, amire hivatott (pl., az oldalletöltés definiciója szerint - mely definició lehet saját, vagy egy már megállapodott szabvány - kalkulálja és regisztrálja az oldalletöltést).
Az (brit) audit másik oldala, hogy mintavétel és egyéb metódusok alapján ellenőrzik, hogy a forgalmi adatok "rendben" vannak.
A brittek (itt értendő a brit hirdetési piac, beleértve az online szereplőket is) azon az elven vannak, hogy a mérőeszközöknek VERSENYEZNIÜK kell, és az ellenőrző szerepet a MATESZ megfelelőjére (ABC electronic) bízzák.
Amennyiben egy piacon több mérőeszköz versenyez, óhatatlanul lesznek eltérések a forgalmi adatok közt.
Hogy mi jó: versenyző mérőeszközök, melyek adott esetben jelentős eltéréseket produkálnak, vagy egy (CSAK EGY) mérőeszköz?
A kérdés nagyon összetett, íme csak pár pro és kontra érv:
- több mérőeszköz "zavart" okoz a piacon (lásd pollner véleményét): mennyi az annyi?
- egy mérőeszkoz teljesen kiszolgáltattá teszi a piacot (ha egy piac úgy dönt, hogy neki elég egy mérőeszköz, mi késztetheti az eszköz tulajdonosát, hogy ezt tökéletesítse, és milyjne szakmai kontroll lehetséges egy ilyen konstrukcióban?)
- egy mérőeszköz megléte nem igényel auditálást (minek auditálni valamit, aminek nincs versenytársa?)
- több mérőeszköz jelenléte rákényszeríti a piaci szereplőket (beleértve az auditorokat is), hogy TÖBB eszközt JÓL ismerjenek. Ez egyrészt hátrány, mert erőforrás igényes, mésrész előny, mert a szakmabeliek sokkal felkészültebbek lesznek (nem lustulnak el)
- és még lehet sorolni...
A MATESZ a print audit feladatokat végzi, nem? Vagyis azt, hogy mennyi terjesztett, értékesített példányszáma van egy lapnak.
